The Statue of Saint Emeric

In this statue Saint Emeric, the patron saint of the young, is shown with a lily, the symbol of chastity, in his hand. The stone statue was erected from public donation and it is the work of Ludvig Krausz.
Saint Emerc was the son of King Saint Stephen and his wife, Gizella. He was a lerned man and a true Catholic. Because he died at a very early age, on 2 September, 1031, he could not succeed his father on the throne but he was sanctified together with his parents by Pope Gregory VII in 1083.
